8. Make all new source code open and reusable, and publish it under appropriate licences

All of our code is either based on existing open source libraries or is released itself under an open licence on our Github account (github.com/onsdigital). To date we have used the MIT Licence based on advice from the Government Digital Service and our own research.

We also release all the data on the public website under OGL v3 and make this clear on every page.

We are not using any code from other Departments in our core applications but it is the intention to use the GDS Transition Tools during our final migration work and have opened discussions with GDS team members on how best to approach this.

We also have some ambitions to run our own version of the Performance Platform at /performance on the ONS site but that is for further down the trail.
