About us

The ONS is the UK’s largest independent producer of official statistics and its recognised national statistical institute. We are responsible for collecting and publishing statistics. We also conduct the census in England and Wales every 10 years.

The Digital and Technology directorate at ONS comprises multi-disciplinary teams, covering a wide range of professions. This includes IT (information technology), enterprise architects and designers, and information assurance. As a directorate, we are responsible for the ONS’s digital estate including internal and externally-facing systems. We work in an agile way and are digital by default, always performing to the highest professional standards.

We have five offices in the UK. Our headquarters are in South Wales, two miles from Newport city centre and just off the M4, with Tredegar House and Gardens as our back yard for lunch-time strolls in the summer. Our other offices are in London, Darlington, Manchester and Titchfield, near Fareham, Hampshire.

Find out more about the ONS, including office locations, on our careers site.
