Digital Service Managers – the time is now!

We are entering a very exciting phase of digital transformation. We’re taking a central role in the understanding of data in government and the benefits this can bring. Taking a user led approach to collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of data is part of our continuing digital transformation.
To take us to the next stage of this transformation the ONS is currently looking to recruit Service Managers.
In this video, Carolyn Williams from the DVLA explains what it means to be a Service Manager.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfH4nJNtv_g]We are looking for people who will develop, own and run our digital services. Digital transformation cannot be completed without relevant, talented people to help us.

We have made good steps forward in the last year but now we want to make giant leaps.

The services include the UK’s first Digital by Default Census (the UK’s largest peace time operation) and the collection of data via other channels. We know that working closely with government departments and other companies is imperative to ensuring that we get the best outcomes for our users. The potential for changing how the UK uses and understands data is massive.

The Service Managers will ensure their services meet and maintain the Digital by Default Service Standard and optimise the re-use of these services across ONS and the wider government. Nothing is siloed or duplicated. All services will be developed with maximum re-use in mind. It’s like a jigsaw falling into place.

The roles will be based in either our Hampshire or South Wales offices.

These roles are critical to the future of ONS and to the future of the UK government. Apply now!
